Spartans Shine at Back to School Night

Spartans Shine at Back to School Night

By Rosely Cabrera (South High Senior)

Our Spartan community welcomed parents, guardians, family, and friends on-campus for Back to School Night on September 13th, 2022. Instead of traveling to each classroom during the night, like a traditional back to school night, each subject had their own booth set up in the quad for students and their families to visit. Hosting back to school night this way helps students feel more comfortable approaching their teachers and creates a better sense of community for the whole school. There were a lot of families present that were glad to meet their child’s teachers and learn what they’ve been up to in their classes. Students had their schedule stamped by their teachers so they could be entered in a raffle to win a Spartan gear or a free yearbook. Additionally, there were food vendors selling agua frescas, tacos, and fruit cups during the event. One of our teachers from the social studies department, Mr. Meraz, mentioned what he likes about back to school night, “I like meeting my students’ parents, so I can learn more about them and their family.”
