Into the World of Chicano Latino Literature By Adrian Pinon Gutierrez (South High Junior)

When the 2022-2023 year started, South High juniors and seniors had the opportunity to join a new English class taught by Mrs. Chapa. The class is titled “Chicano Latino Literature” and provides students the opportunity to dive into novels, articles, stories, and essays that were written by people from the Chicano(a) and Latino(a) community. Victor Reyes (11), a student enrolled in the class, said that he likes the class because it talks about his culture and because “Mrs. Chapa shows us Latino authors that make books and movies.” Another student, Alexandra Gonzalez (11), said “the class is interesting because there are a lot of fun activities, it's not just reading and writing all the time, we do lots of projects.” Chicano Latino Literature is a great class and any Spartan interested in being in the class next year should reach out to their counselor.
