Girls Volleyball: The Seniors Say Goodbye, By: Samantha Garcia (South High Senior)

On Thursday, October 20th, our South High varsity volleyball team had a match against North High. The crowd filled the gym for the “Pink out the Stands” game. Also in the stands were the friends and family of the senior volleyball players for Senior Night. The game was bittersweet for the seniors because some of them have been playing since their freshman year. Our senior Spartans didn’t let their emotions get to them and they left everything they had on the court in a hard-fought battle. Unfortunately, the team did not win the match, but it was still a good night, filled with special memories. When interviewing one of our seniors, Lisset Limon, about the end of her high school volleyball career, she stated “It felt like it was time to move onto new opportunities in my life. What I enjoyed most this season was creating bonds with girls I had never talked to before”.
