In recognition of an extremely important part of the school's structure, South High celebrates our very own librarian, Mrs. Amanda Rude, on National Librarian Day! Mrs. Rude makes an effort to assist all students as soon as they enter her library, but she also takes it a step farther by getting to know students. Here is how I would describe Mrs. Rude, based on my own great experiences with her: “She's day one. Since freshman year, Mrs. Rude has been nothing but amazing to not only me, but to my entire friend group. It’s gotten to a point where she’s an honorable member of the group because of how cool she is.” (Isaac Diaz, 12). Another senior, Joel Fregoso echoed that sentiment when he said, “She is awesome, and I really like having her as our librarian.” I took some time to ask Mrs. Rude about her favorite parts of her job, and she had this to say; “The core of being a librarian is to be an information specialist; I enjoy guiding students to the information they need. That, and reading advisory, which is when the kids come in and ask, ‘what book can I read about this topic?’, whether it's for academic or pleasure reading, suggesting books is my favorite part of my job.”
Happy National Librarian Day to Mrs. Rude, here's to many more!
